DDR Storm is the name of the Dance Dance Revolution tournament created by Joshua Campbell (Tyger) in 2003. Since then, other video game tournaments have been incorporated, but still holds dance games as the main event. It has grown to be a large community of friends that have similar interests in mostly video gaming.
It is a 3 day event from Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18. Ballroom will open from 10:00am to 11:00pm on Friday and Saturday; 10:00am to 8:00pm on Sunday.
It will be held at the LaPlaya Resort in Daytona Beach, FL. We will be located in the Main Ballroom.
Main tournaments will include DDR Extreme, DDR Supernova 2, In the Groove 2 Customs, and Pump it Up Fiesta 2. There will be other tournaments as well such as Mario Kart 64, Pokemon Stadium 2 Mini-Games, Project Diva F, Amplitude, NES Remix, Mario Kart 7, Pokemon X/Y, and more.
We will have an open video gaming area for free play, photo booth setup for taking pictures, many will bring the DS/3DS consoles for multiplayer experiences and streetpassing, and lots of socialization!
Please contact Tyger before bringing anything to make sure there is enough space to accommodate you.
Absolutely! You get a streetpass! You get a streetpass! We would also like to hold some quick and small tournaments for games like Mario Kart 7, Pokemon X/Y, and more.
We currently have 7 machines confirmed. Pump It Up Fiesta 2, Pump It Up Pro, 4 DDR machines, and In the Groove 2. One of the DDR machines will be an official DDR 2013 mix on freeplay for the duration of the tournament.
Members of the community has helped in providing all machines that will be at DDR Storm. In other words, yes, they own the machines and will be bringing them.
There will be 1-Day and 3-Day badges. 1-Day badges are $10 each and good for the day you purchase them on. 3-Day badges are $30. This applies to everyone.
The special negotiated DDR Storm rate is $69/night. This gives an OCEANFRONT room with 2 double beds or 1 King as requested. To book, call 1-800-224-5052 and ask for the DDR Storm group rate.
If you want the full experience, get the 3-Day badge. I don’t know too many people in the community that will say one day is enough for a multi-day Storm event. If you are entering a dance game tournament, you will NEED to obtain the 3-Day pass as these tournaments run more than one day.
The hotel has their own restaurant for the most convenient eats. If you would like to eat off-site, there is a large plaza across the street the following locations: Publix, Ruby Tuesdays, Subway, Dennys, China One, Wings-Pizza-N-Things, and more.
Yep! Right near their pool in front of the beach, they have a tiki bar that will be open during the weekend most of the day. Hours approximate from 11am to 1am depending on how much business there is. There is also 2 hot tubs and a shuffleboard for those who care to partake.
No outside food or alcohol allowed. Only bottled soft drinks may be brought inside.
There will be water stations setup in the ballroom.
Yes, I am always looking for volunteers. I need volunteers for the following:
- Registration Desk (need 3-5)
- Opening Setup on Thursday (need 3-5)
- Closing Down on Sunday (need 3-5)
If you are interested in helping out, please contact Tyger using the contact information in next question below.
