What is DDR Storm?

DDR Storm is the name of the Dance Dance Revolution tournament created by Joshua Campbell (Tyger) in 2003. Since then, other video game tournaments have been incorporated, but still holds dance games as the main event. It has grown to be a large community of friends that have similar interests in mostly video gaming.

When is the event?

It is a 3 day event from Friday, May 22 through Sunday, May 24. Ballroom will open from 10:00am to 11:00pm on Friday and Saturday; 10:00am to 7:00pm on Sunday.

Where is DDR Storm to be held?

It will be held at the LaPlaya Resort in Daytona Beach, FL. We will be located in the Main Ballroom located on the Mezzanine between the 2nd and 3rd floor. If using the lobby elevator, use the M Floor.

What tournaments will be held?

Main tournaments will include Dance Dance Revolution X3, DDR Extreme, In the Groove, and Pump It Up Prime. There will be other tournaments as well such as Super Smash Bros, Amplitude, Mario Kart 8, and more.

What is there to do for spectators?

Some dance game machines will be on freeplay for the duration of the event. We will have an open video gaming area for free play, many will bring the DS/3DS consoles for multiplayer experiences and streetpassing, a Nintendo representative will be out on Sunday for a Splatoon demo, and tons of socialization! Let’s not forget the awesome parties after each event day is concluded.

Can I bring my gaming console/arcade machine/large thingy that takes up lots of space?

Please contact Tyger before bringing anything to make sure there is enough space to accommodate you.

Should I bring my 3DS to this event?

Absolutely! You get a streetpass! You get a streetpass! We would also like to hold some quick and small tournaments for games like Mario Kart 7, Tetris DS, and more. We need some individuals that would like to take charge of this!

How many dance game machines will there be?

9 Dance Game machines total!

How the hell did you get so many machines in a hotel?

Members of the community has helped in providing all machines that will be at DDR Storm. In other words, yes, they own the machines and will be bringing them. Thank Nick Denty, Anthony Conner, and Chris Cortes.

How much does it cost to attend?

There will be 1-Day and 3-Day badges. 1-Day badges are $10 each and good for the day you purchase them on. 3-Day badges range from $20.

How much does it cost to stay at the venue hotel?

If you haven’t booked by now, most of the rooms are SOLD OUT.

Which badge should I get?

If you want the full experience, get the 3-Day badge. I don’t know too many people in the community that will say one day is enough for a multi-day Storm event. If you are entering a dance game tournament, you will NEED to obtain the 3-Day pass as these tournaments run more than one day.

Do you provide refunds?

Although we understand that sometimes unexpected events come up, we hold to a no refund policy. With that said, there are alternatives. We would happy to transfer your venue or tournament fees to another person that will be attending. Just contact us!

What is the food/drink policy?

No outside food or alcohol allowed. SERIOUSLY. Soft drinks are an exception.

There will be a water station setup in the ballroom. We might have a station setup to order food, but that isn’t guaranteed. Please support the venue by purchase food they provide for sale. Otherwise, you can check the question for where to purchase food.

Anything to eat within walking distance?

The hotel has their own restaurant for the most convenient eats. If you would like to eat off-site, there is a large plaza across the street the following locations: Publix, Ruby Tuesdays, Subway, Dennys, China One, Nicola’s Pizza, and more.

Is that a tiki bar I see near the pool?

Yep! Right near their pool in front of the beach, they have a tiki bar that will be open during the weekend most of the day. Hours approximate from 11am to 1am depending on how much business there is. There is also 2 hot tubs and a shuffleboard for those who care to partake.

Are you looking for volunteers?

Maybe. Just let me know personally if you would like to help with anything.

I have more questions!
